REPORT ON TravelWatch-ISLE OF MAN March 2013 Public Meeting and AGM

Saturday 16th March 2013

Our main Speakers were Bernard Lavelle, Sales Director of London City Airport and Luke Hayhoe, General Manager Commercial & Customer for BA CityFlyer.

Amongst the key points they made were:
  • The convenience of London City Airport (LCY) for Central London because of its central location and easy connections via the Dockland Light Railway - in contrast with the lengthy journeys to Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW).  Being a smaller airport there are short check-in times and fast transits through the airport.
  • The cost savings on transport into the centre of London - around £20 in comparison with LHR/LGW
  • There are no extra charges on IOM-LCY flights for luggage or refreshments
  • There is substantial over-capacity on routes between IOM and London and none of the operators are in profit on these routes.
Copies of their power-point presentations are available via the links below.

At our AGM the current Officers and Committee were re-elected and Jane Tatchell and Rodney Read-Pickles were voted onto the Committee.

Updates on Bus, Wind Farms and Ferry Issues were also provided. On a show of hands there was very substantial support for any Lord Street redevelopment to include a new bus station. Windfarm Updates have been posted on this website and an update on ferry traffic is shown below.
