Extract from DONG Energy Mini Report on Walney Extension consultation

"We also asked attendees to tell us what is the most important overall issue we should consider whilst developing and finalising our project".

"The major issue identified  was the potential impact on sea routes."

This was identified by 30% of those who attended the 8 consultation events - only one of which was on the Island.

The Island's Passenger watchdog takes a neutral position towards the principle of off shore windfarms - but is absolutely opposed to any interference with the  Island's ferry routes.

DONG ENERGY
The Danish company already operate the Walney Phase 1 and Phase 2 windfarms and are proposing to develop the Walney Extension - which will be the largest offshore windfarm in the world.

Through a partnership with Scottish Power Renewables they are also developing the West of Duddon Sands Windfarm

DONG also operate the Burbo Bank windfarm in Liverpool Bay and have applied to build the Burbo Bank extension Windfarm.
